The Challenge of Change
Changes whether in work or life situations, mean people have to revise their knowledge,
skills and expectations to adapt to new circumstances. This workshop addresses how
people can successfully move through such changes and maintain positive attitudes
and low stress.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
CISD is a specialized workshop designed to prevent the development of Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder in employees who are faced with the death, severe injury,
suicide or mortal illness of a fellow employee or a situation that affects them deeply.
The intervention of a CISD workshop is warranted where workers are in shock or have
to deal with customers, clients or situations, which would cause distress to almost anyone.
The workshop helps the audience understand the normal process of grief and shock, how to
understand the reactions they are experiencing and what they can do to help themselves
recover from their shock or grief. Often it is possible to identify individuals who need
follow up therapy and recommend this to them privately.
The advantage for the company is that absenteeism is reduced; employees feel
management cares about their health and has their best interests at heart and the
working atmosphere is not strained by unspoken concerns and feelings.
Conflict Resolution
Conflicts are endemic. It is how we cope with conflict when it arises, that makes the
difference between increased aggravation between co-workers or workers and management or
increased understanding. Managers get promoted for many reasons, which may not include
their conflict resolution skills. These skills can be learned and these seminars
illustrate some of the techniques that work to defuse problems and sustain workable
relationships in the workplace.
Coping with Anger and Frustration in these Pressured
Times
This is a popular topic because it addresses how to cope with feelings that
arise when workers experience the frequent frustrations and demands inherent in many
common daily situations from congested commutes to the pressure of responding to the
instant demands of e-mail and fax communications.
The presentation is in the form of humorous stories which illustrate how anger
and frustration can affect people in addition learning key techniques that audiences
can use to lessen the aggravation they experience in traffic, with interactions and
with home/life work demands.
Dual-Career Families
This workshop addresses common problems that affect dual career families and provides
a range of options for resolving or rebalancing family relationships so that both partners
[and their children] experience a greater sense of fairness, more time balance and less conflict.
Overcoming Depression and Negativity
This workshop uses humorous stories and illustrations of ways we can overcome
the negative effects of depression and negativity. This workshop is customized for
the specific audience: for instance, when downsizing occurs, workers facing dismissal
may need specific help in adapting to changed circumstances, loss of income and employment
and the uncertainty of their futures. Companies who have had an ill or dying employee also
use a variation of this workshop to help workers process their grief.
The Power of Humor in the Workplace
Most of adults spend eight hours a day at work. If we can increase the amount of
positive interaction between management and coworkers, or between workers with each other,
work becomes a more pleasant experience. Everyone benefits. Happy workers are more satisfied
workers, absenteeism is reduced and productivity is enhanced. This workshop addresses some
of the mechanisms that operate in a healthy interpersonal work environment.
Stress Management
These workshops are designed to educate audiences about the nature of stress; its
detrimental effects on work production and emotional balance; and how to lessen the
impact of stress on their quality of life.
Audiences learn some key techniques that help to prevent the build up of stress,
which lessen the effects of previously accumulated stress and which increase resilience
and promote good health, healthy interactions and positive attitudes.
Surviving Holiday Streses
This workshop addresses common concerns that affect families as major holidays
draw near including financial issues; the meaning of the particular holiday; dealing
with and accommodating to differing expectations and traditions; conflict resolution;
predicting trouble as a way of strategizing potential solutions.
All these points are conveyed by means of humorous anecdotes and stories,
which illustrate both the problems and solutions which have provided positive options
and resolutions.
